Urban Harvest Bistro
Urban Harvest Bistro is a West African-inspired restaurant concept rooted in the vibrant flavors and traditions of Senegalese cuisine, brought to life through a modern and sophisticated visual identity. For this project, I developed a full brand system—from logo design and color palette to typography, iconography, and brand applications.
Design Challenges:
One of the main challenges was blending traditional African visual elements with a clean, contemporary aesthetic that would appeal to a broader audience unfamiliar with Senegalese culture. I also needed to ensure the brand felt premium but still welcoming and authentic, avoiding clichés or overly ornamental graphics.
Solutions:
I created a custom wordmark paired with a distinctive cooking pot and house icon that symbolizes warmth, hospitality, and home-cooked flavor—core values in Senegalese culture. The color palette includes rich, earthy tones inspired by West African spices and natural landscapes, balanced by soft neutrals for a clean, modern feel. I introduced a set of patterns and textures derived from African textiles to use subtly across packaging, menus, and digital platforms without overwhelming the brand.
Result:
The final identity system captures the spirit of Senegal while positioning Urban Harvest Bistro as a refined, approachable dining destination. It allows for flexibility across formats, from social media to signage, all while maintaining a cohesive and culturally respectful visual language.
